How to Get Rid of Pimples

IF you are plagued by acne, the number one thing you want to know is how to get rid of pimples. That is a question easier asked than answered.

The problem with treating acne is that there are many causes and many types of acne. Your pimples may be due to hormonal issues while your sister’s blemishes stem from her cosmetics. But the fact of the matter is that experts have yet to pinpoint the exact cause of this common skin condition, and so doctors will often talk about acne management and not acne cures.

Do not fear! This does not mean that you cannot achieve a flawless complexion. What it does mean is that once you find something that works, something that addresses what is prompting your pimples into appearing on your skin, you most likely will have to continue to use it in order to keep your blemishes at bay.

Getting rid of pimples

Finding out how to get rid of pimples can be frustrating because basically it is a matter of trial and error. What has worked for me and Trina and Eddie may very well not work for you. Aside from the fact that acne is so common – experts estimate that 80 percent of all young people, ages 11 thru 30, have experienced breakouts, with many continuing to suffer with zits into their 40s and 50s – this is another reason that there are literally hundreds if not thousands of different pimple treatments available.

When choosing an acne solution to try, first consider the kind of skin you have. It may seem odd, but people with dry skin can nevertheless still have eruptions. So when looking for an acne treatment, start with one that is formulated for your skin type. If your skin is sensitive and easily irritated, this is especially important not only for achieving better results but also for not doing damage to delicate skin tissue. It is natural that if your face (or back or chest) looks like a minefield from all the pimples, your inclination is to try to nuke them with the most powerful weapon in your acne arsenal. But this can backfire on you! An acne solution that is too harsh can actually make your condition worse.

Stick with the (pimple) program!

After you choose an acne treatment that is suited to your skin type, the next important thing is to use it as directed, not piling on more product than is called for or not using it less often than you are supposed to, for as long as necessary to give the particular acne routine a fair shot. For instance, if the label says that you should see results in two to four weeks, give it the four weeks. At that point, you will either rejoice that your acne has dramatically improved and your skin is looking great, orĀ  you will discover that that product does not work for you. At least now you have learned something, and you can cross it off your list.

And when you find something that works, do yourself and your face a favor, and stick with the program! Learning how to get rid of pimples requires that you take a long-term approach. But with commitment and perseverance you can be acne free.
